I can't believe how fast this week has gone by! Today was a great opportunity to see some "real" EBL, take part in critique and tuning sessions. Having started the day with the obligatory box of coffee, we were offered the opportunity to pitch project ideas to students at HTH. As with the observed PT, this was again student led (students from 9th - 11th grade). The phrase 'soft on the person, hard on the content', cropped up a few times at the start of the tuning when the leading student summarised the process of tuning. I found it reassuring to be discussing my ideas with students as they were able to articulate a different perspective that I would not have normally thought about. Just to reinforce Mr Knowles's final post, the students applied themselves with a professional tone and were taking the tuning seriously despite knowing that they would not be able to take part in my project.
We were given time to prepare a presentation of learning (POL). It was interesting to see the other delegates presentations as they also shared the same outcomes from the weeks observation: culture and ethos is the fundamental hinge in EBL.
This week I have been able to find answers to the following but I have also discovered a lot about EBL
that I was not expecting:
Takeaway: it is really important to follow protocol and to get students invested in project ideas at an early stage. If students can take part in the tuning process greater provision can be made for all, new perspectives can be listened to and greater relationships can be made.

This week I have been able to find answers to the following but I have also discovered a lot about EBL
that I was not expecting:
- What is the importance of protocol?
- How do teachers differentiate?
- How is the culture of learning embedded into the school?
- What is the significance of exhibition
- What are the specific differences between SBL and HTH teachers?
